Residential interior design in Trivandrum, for the home you already have.

Plan the rooms before you choose the cushions.

Interior design as its own practice, not an add-on to architecture. For the apartment you just bought, the villa nearing handover, the house you have lived in for years, or the home another architect drew.

Interior

What is residential interior design, and what is it not?

Residential interior design, as Radianz practises it in Trivandrum, plans how a home is used before it decides how it looks: where storage goes, how light falls, how people move between kitchen and dining, what the ceiling has to hide. Decoration chooses cushions and curtains for a room that already works. We do the first, and the second follows naturally from it.

Why interiors go wrong, and why they go wrong late.

The most expensive interior mistakes are made after the electrician has left.

  1. The ceiling is designed after the wiring. So new conduits are chased into finished plaster.
  2. The kitchen is planned after the plumbing. So the sink stays where the pipe is, not where the cook needs it.
  3. The wardrobes are drawn after the painting. So the paint is done twice.
  4. The flat is the same as the flat above. Without design, the family adapts to the plan. With design, the plan adapts to the family.
Both problems have the same fix: interior thinking early, before the finishing trades arrive.

Who this is for.

A new apartmentBare-shell or builder-finished. Planned so the standard flat stops feeling standard, with storage that disappears and a plan that fits how you actually live.
A villa or new house near handoverInteriors designed before you move in, so nothing is demolished a month later and the lighting, the ceilings and the joinery arrive with the house.
The house you live inRework of kitchens, bedrooms and living spaces around the way your family uses them now, not the way the house was first drawn.
A house designed elsewhereWe work happily inside another architect’s building. The interior gets its own thinking, and the building gets the respect it deserves.

Send us a plan or a few photographs. We will tell you what we see.

How an interior project runs.

The space as it isMeasured, photographed, understood in daylight. Then a conversation about who cooks, who works from home, where the children do homework, what you own too much of.
The plan firstLayouts for each room, the storage strategy, the lighting concept, and the ceiling design that carries the services. You see the rooms in 3D before a single finish is chosen.
SurfacesMaterials, finishes and colour schedules; furniture and joinery detail; kitchen and bathroom design down to the handle. Every decision arrives with a reason, and an alternative if the first costs more than it should.
Drawings for the carpenters and electriciansInterior execution drawings, joinery details, lighting and electrical layouts, and a schedule of finishes.
Review as it is builtSo the drawn detail is the detail you get.

Questions people ask before starting.

How do interior designers charge in Kerala?
Most designers charge either per square foot of the space, or a percentage of what you spend on the fit-out, or a fixed design fee. We give you a written fee list before work starts, fixed per stage, and it stays separate from what you spend on the work itself.
Do you supply the furniture and do the work?
We design and detail everything, specify the materials and the makers, and review the work as it is built. You buy from whoever you choose, and the carpenters and electricians work from our drawings.
Can you design just one room?
Yes. A kitchen, a master bedroom or a living room can be a project on its own, and it is often the best way to start with an existing house.
When should interior design start on a new house?
Before the electrician arrives. Ceilings, lighting and kitchen services are cheap to move on paper and expensive to move in plaster. If the house is already built, start before the painting.
Can you work with me if I live abroad?
Yes. Layouts, 3D views and finish boards are reviewed online, and family in Kerala can visit the site and the showrooms on your behalf as much as you want.
